Hoopla Digital pulls together a massive digital collection — audiobooks, ebooks, comics, movies, TV shows, and even full music albums — all for free with nothing more than a library card. I borrowed an audiobook for a long commute and streamed a movie the same night, all in one app. The panel-by-panel reading for comics is a nice detail, and the sleep timer for audiobooks is genuinely useful.

hoopla Tips
Have your library card number and PIN ready before signing up. Search for your local participating library inside the app, enter your card details, and you’re linked in under two minutes. No extra paperwork or verification hoops to jump through.
Check your monthly borrow limit first. The exact number of monthly checkouts is set by your local library, and the counter resets on the first day of every calendar month. Returning a title early does not give you an extra borrow slot, so plan your picks accordingly.
Learn the standard lending periods for each format. eBooks, audiobooks and comics typically check out for 21 days, music albums for 7 days, and movies or TV episodes for 3 days. Exact timelines can vary slightly by library, but these are the default rules for most regions.
Download titles ahead of time for offline use. Streaming works fine on stable Wi-Fi, but downloading beforehand saves mobile data and keeps you from getting cut off mid-book or movie when your connection drops.
All in all, Hoopla is a no-brainer for anyone with access to a participating library.
