DuckDuckGo

DuckDuckGo APK (Latest Version v5.285.0) for Android

5.285.0 Android 8.0+

Editor's Review

Chrome and other browsers treat your data as their product. DuckDuckGo treats it as yours. I switched a few weeks ago, and the difference is immediate—every search stays private, and the tracker blocking is aggressive enough that pages load noticeably faster without the usual ad clutter.

DuckDuckGo Official Introduction

At DuckDuckGo, we believe the best way to protect your personal information from hackers, scammers, and privacy-invasive companies is to stop it from being collected at all. That's why millions of people choose DuckDuckGo over Chrome and other browsers to search and browse online. Our built-in search engine is like Google but never tracks your searches. Our browser blocks invasive web ads (including most video ads) and cookie pop-ups, reducing distractions, and helping to stop other companies from collecting your data. While our optional integrated AI features, Search Assist and Duck.ai, are private and never use your data to train AI. Oh, and our browser is free. We make money from privacy-respecting search ads, not by exploiting your data. Take back control of your personal information with the browser designed for data protection, not data collection.

DuckDuckGo Tips

Set it as your default browser first, don’t just use it for searches. You get way more value out of the tracker blocking and privacy grading when every link opens through this app instead of Chrome. It takes 10 seconds in settings, and it’s absolutely worth it.

Get in the habit of using the Fire button. That little flame icon at the bottom wipes all your tabs, browsing history, and stored data in one tap. It’s way faster than digging through settings to clear your cache, and it’s perfect for when you want to close out the app and leave zero trace on your phone.

Use Duck.ai for summaries, not deep work. It shines at condensing long articles or answering simple factual questions. Don’t waste time trying to get it to write full essays or debug complex code — it’s not built for that, and you’ll just be let down.

Turn on App Lock if you browse sensitive content. Add a PIN or biometric lock to the app itself. That way even if someone grabs your phone, they can’t snoop through your open tabs or search history.

Set your preferred region for better results. Private search doesn’t have to mean irrelevant results. Jump into settings and pick your region to get more local answers without giving away your actual location data.

It’s not all perfect, obviously. The search results are still hit or miss compared to Google, especially for hyper-local queries or super niche topics. If you’re used to Google curating results based on your past searches, the shift will feel jarring at first — results are flat, unpersonalized, and sometimes you’ll have to scroll further to find what you want. The browser is also pretty bare-bones; no extension support, no tab groups, no fancy cross-device sync beyond basic bookmarks. If you’re a power user who lives in browser extensions, this will feel limiting pretty fast.
