Editor's Review
If you work in front of a PC all day, you already know the feeling—you lose track of time, your back stiffens, and suddenly four hours have passed without you moving. Stretchly fixes that. I set up mini-breaks every 20 minutes and long breaks every hour, and the full-screen reminders actually got me up from my chair.

Long hours sitting in front of a computer easily lead to eye strain, stiff shoulders, fatigue, and poor work focus. Most people forget to rest on their own, even when they know continuous screen time harms physical and mental health. Developed by Jan Hovancik, Stretchly is a completely free, open-source cross-platform tool built to fix sedentary working habits. It brings structured, regular rest reminders to desktop devices, helping remote workers, office staff, and long-hour PC users build healthier daily computer usage routines without manual self-discipline.
What makes Stretchly way more practical than ordinary simple reminder tools is its dual-cycle break system. Instead of just one fixed rest timer, it separates breaks into short micro sessions and long deep rest sessions, fitting human work fatigue rules perfectly. This two-tier design avoids overly frequent interruptions and prevents long uninterrupted screen time. Users can fully customize the interval frequency and duration of both break types to match their personal work rhythm.
The customized parameter settings are super flexible for different usage habits. For quick fatigue relief, users can set Mini Breaks every 10, 20, or 30 minutes, with each short rest lasting 20 seconds to one minute. These tiny pauses ease eye pressure and relax tight muscles without disrupting workflow. For thorough physical recovery, configurable Long Breaks trigger every one or 1.5 hours, lasting 5 to 15 minutes each, allowing users to stand up, stretch, and fully relieve accumulated body fatigue.
Strict Mode is undoubtedly the most functional highlight for users with weak self-control. By default, the app allows users to skip ongoing breaks with a single click, which is pretty flexible for urgent work scenarios. Once Strict Mode is enabled, the skip function is completely disabled. The full-screen reminder window cannot be closed or ignored, forcing users to finish the required rest time. This feature effectively solves the problem of procrastinating rest due to busy work or gaming immersion.
