Stunnel is a free open-source network encryption proxy tool created by developer Michał Trojnara, first launched to the public in December 1998 and continuously updated to the current 5.79 version. It solves the core pain point of traditional network software that lacks native TLS/SSL encryption capability, allowing users to add secure encrypted transmission functions to client and server network nodes without modifying the source code of original communication programs.

Released under the GNU General Public License open-source agreement, Stunnel is permanently free for personal home users and commercial enterprises, with cross-platform compatibility covering Windows, Linux and other mainstream operating systems.
